How to make most of UC EC spaces

I am posting this in the parents forum becuase I hope there are parents who experianced this last year and have some tips to share.

How should I describe the EC"s in the UC applicatons, for example some organizations that are well respected but most people dont' know much about? ALso, UC applications are didffernt than private college so I don't know how to describe--one can't send a resume/brag sheet wilth UC admissions.

How should I effectivley describe UC Extra Curruculars?

perhaps that is someplace where your counselors recommendation can elaborate on?
Sorry I am not more help- other than reminding d when the applications were due- I didn't see how she wrote them up

use the Other section to elaborate.

EK, just so you know - the UC application does not include a counselor's recommendation. There are no recs, no transcripts - just a form to be filled out by the student.

Procrastinator - I remember that my daughter lumped things together on the form and used a lot of abbreviations to make space.

thanks calmom I didn't realize that
so I guess a great deal would depend on what the admissions at teh university knows about the school?
Since D is planning to apply to some Ca schools- I suppose I better check it out- since some of her strengths- IMO, have come from - how far she has come in just a few years- which isn't really evident by looking at her transcript.

There's a 'comments' area on the app form that can be used to expand on some areas where there may not have been adequate room. Other than this, squeeze as much as possible into the tiny spaces.

For denoting hurdles and obstacles overcome or other major EC involvements, this can be done in the personal statement in a creative way.
