My son is starting his applications, and many of them ask questions like, "What is your field of interest? If undecided, talk about what subjects you like, etc."

He is very very undecided, and is having a hard time writing about it.

Has anyone else had this dilemma? Do people just try to stick with one area of interest and write about it? It's really very hard to write a lot about how you just don't know!!

He has to like something. Just buckle down and talk about an interest. I wrote about enjoying chaos theory and the dynamics of order/chaos, something that unifies a lot of my interests. Does he have any common themes between the stuff he likes?

He should just pick an interest and write about it. Colleges know that the vast majority of students change majors several times, so he won’t be committing himself to whatever he writes about now.
