How to make the time pass while waiting for decisions?

People who have already done the college application process: how did you pass the time after application deadlines before your decisions were released? I’m driving myself crazy worrying about college stuff and I can’t take my mind off things.

Find the actual results threads for the colleges your applying to here at cc. Reading through them will probably crush your hopes of getting into those schools; you’ll be able to accept that and forget about colleges for a while, and pleasantly surprised if you do get in/not as disappointed if you get rejected. At least that’s what I did.

@cslc76 That’s true. College Confidential has kind of crushed my dreams about getting into my top schools already…

Baking for your friends and family. Seeing The Force Awakens (again). Friends over for cards or some other games & hanging out. Working out. Naps. Walking the dog. Video games. Robotics build season. Reading. Volunteering.

Live life.

I mean, there’s still schoolwork you have to do. You can hang out with your friends more often now that apps are done, and if you’re worried about college decisions, tell all your friends where you applied, and when decision day comes, tell all of them where you got admitted and denied. Doing that eases the disappointment of rejection by a lot (at least that is what previous high school seniors told me).

I don’t agree with sharing your application trials & results. Just makes someone (you or your friends) feel crappy when one person has better results than the others. Stay away from college as a topic altogether.

Once the applications are in, it is time to move on to other things. Enjoy your senior year, spend time with your HS friends, be active doing things your care about etc. As long as you applied realistically to a wide range of reach, match, and safety schools that are affordable, things will turn out well.
