How to Meet College Admission Officers in Spring 2008

Thanks again to sybbie719 for mentioning that SUNY is hosting SUNY college nights.

SUNY: Activities and Events

Some of these events have happened by now in various parts of the country. I'd be grateful to hear from participants what you learned and what the event was like in your town.

Carnegie Mellon University has updated its webpage about admission visits to other states for spring 2008.

Carnegie Mellon Counselors on the Road

Whitman College is currently traveling to spring information sessions, some of which include representatives of other colleges.

tokenadult-I know that I responded to your post #42 concerning an Exploring College Options program I had attended with my S. You asked a follow-up question about whether they showed any slides with snow :), and yet all my posts seem to have disappeared. Any idea what happened?

I wish I knew what your technical difficulty was. I'm sorry to hear that. I just got over a technical difficulty myself (my Internet cable was disconnected by maintenance work at my house over the weekend), but I'll try to post about the Exploring College Options program in my town. Duke has a more interesting snow picture now. Stanford still doesn't even attempt to show snow.

Well, I just did a search, and using the search function I realize that a whole number of different people's posts seem to have been deleted. :(
I won't "divert" this thread any more with this observation. Just wanted you to know that a chunk of posts are gone for some unknown reason.

Have you looked on the thread on the Parents Forum?

Well, of course you are right, tokenadult-it was the other thread on the Parents' Forum. As Miss Emily Litella would say, "That's quite different. Never mind." :)

Is there ever a situation where it would be appropriate to give the admission's officer your resume? Should you be prepared and have one in case they ask for it?

Also, is it advisable to tell your name and preface your question with a little information about yourself which is related to the question?

I wouldn't bring a resume to any occasion but a one-on-one interview. This thread mentions much larger group meetings, mostly.

Yale's programs will continue into the summer

in a variety of places around the country.

As someone previously mentioned, not much in the midwest. :(

This is the old thread. I had better lock it, and point to the new thread:
