Well as many of you know, I was accepted at both Andover and Exeter, both with quite generous Financial Aid offers. Exeter is my first choice, but they gave me considerably less than Andover did (a few thousands). What would be the best way of trying to get more from Exeter? Phone? Letter? In person at revisits? Also, how do I convince them to give me more?

I just posted on the old thread, but here's a repeat.

In a prior year, D's BS aid offer was increased by $2,500 after we called and talked to them. She did well there and in subsequent years it was increased although our financial position and EFC increased. Go figure.

Congratulations on your acceptances...as I stated in my other post, in my experience with our son who will be entering college this fall, a face to face meeting with the director of FA at his ED school yielded an additional 7k in grants----this will help alot

Dear hubby brought up copies of our budget--car insurance bills, heating bills as evidence of why our cost of living is higher in the northeast....

Tom, don't hesitate to tell Exeter exactly how much Andover gave you (send them a copy of the letter), and tell them that you'd rather go to Exeter if they can match Andover's offer. There's nothing wrong with being very open about these things. These schools don't like losing kids to each other b/c of financial aid, and they understand that it's a competitive world.
