How to pass ALEKS math?

At the university I attend, the class isn’t worth any credit hours but is vital to progressing to the math class required for my BS in Biology, which is Analytical Geometry and Calculus 1 I think… I may have to take a credited pre-req class before that even.

Anyway, I’m not terrible at math (I was placed in the Algebra III module because of my “eh” ACT math score) but I’m horrible at learning on a computer for 15+ hours a week (in-class + at home hours). During high school, I tried online homeschooling as well as a brick-and-mortar school that hosted online courses and failed at both because I don’t do well sitting for long periods of time, staring at a computer without an instructor.

At uni, there are tutors that hover around the room to help, but I do SO much better with a teacher or lecturer that can explain a whole concept to me, rather than helping me answer one problem.
Obviously I have no choice but to complete the ALEKS modules, but am really dreading the Spring semester (my 2nd semester at uni and 2nd attempt at ALEKS).

Has anyone had similar issues?
How did you pass? Tutors? A focus on self-discipline? Additional materials?

Any help is appreciated, thanks
