How should my first year look like if I would like to double major?
Aerospace Engineering and Math/Computer Science
Do I have to take all classes from second major or not?

I would prefer second engineering major, but policy didn't allowed it.
I have 56,5 credits from hs.
I can skip Math 20 A,B,D; Phys 2 A,B; Chem 6 A,B,C

FALL

Am I on track to finish in 5 years my double major?
If not, can I have Math/CS as a minor?

Are you allowed to double CS and Aerospace? They might consider CS an engineering major since its in an engineering department.

I know this might not be much help but I find your double majors to be a bit redundant. In my opinion, I would stick with one major and focus on things such as internships and projects on your free time. An engineering major is time consuming enough already.

Math/Computer Science is in Math Dept., but Computer Science and Engineering is in Engineering Dept.
If I don’t choose second major, I will have to graduate in 3 years or less.
I have priority registration, so it is easier to graduate on time.

From this site, you have 31 courses left after your exemptions (but before GEs).

According to the 4 year plan at http://vac.ucsd.edu for math/compsci major you have about 19 courses left (excluding GEs, exemptions and overlap with LD MAE requirements).

31 + 19 = 50 classes. Assuming you take 4 classes a quarter, you’re going to be here for 4 years and 1 quarter.

BUT, that’s not including your GEs, which can range from 2-5 classes for the writing sequence alone, not to mention anything else your college requires.

You DO have to take all classes from both majors in order to double major. There are some cases that allow overlap of UD courses and will allow you to shave off a quarter or two, but I think you’d find it difficult to overlap MAE courses with pure math/compsci courses.

IMO I don’t really see the point in double majoring as an engineer. If you like compsci or think having background compsci knowledge will be useful, you can take a few courses for fun or minor. There’s also nothing wrong with graduating early (it’s a feat for an engineering major, actually) or taking a few 3 class quarters and stretching out your undergrad experience.

And don’t think priority registration = guaranteed classes. We’re easing into the two-pass system now, and sometimes ***** just happens. For example, the bioengineer: pity the guy that followed his 4-year plan to take bibc100 this fall, only to find that it’s not even offered.

Ooh my mistake. I thought you were deciding on taking math or CS as a separate major, not the combined major :P

But I agree with momosky here. I would rather just get a computer science minor instead of double majoring.

You can replace bibc100 with chem114a
My friend did it
He should take bibc100 in Fall, but he got email from dept, and replaced with chem114a

I didn’t know that, I CAN HAVE CS as a minor.
I couldn’t find it anywhere.

I need only 7 GE classes in total.

[Next Step for the CS Minor | Computer Science and Engineering, University of California San Diego](Vice Chancellor Dr. Becky Petitt | Computer Science)

Yeah you can take chem114a – it’s just an annoyance with how the schedule planning and advising doesn’t match up :P

My application for CS minor was denied without any reason.

So I am coming back to my first plan.
I will try to double major in MAE and Math/CS
