How to prep to take a 32 to a 34 or 35 on the ACT

I got a 32 on my first ACT this last September, getting a 33E, 30M, 31R, and 34S as well as a 10W. So, what is the best way to prepare given that only the very hard questions are of any relevance to me? What are some especially difficult preparation materials that you guys know of? Thanks!

The Real ACT Prep Book FTW!!

it's really really hard to go up a point when ur already in the 30's because it all comes down to ggettting one or two questions right or wrong. good luck, tho!

yeah I agree with tryin2bcool

Pocket the 32 and work on essays, etc. If you retake the chances are probably better that your score'll go down, than up. Why take the chance and deal w/ the stress.

don't listen to them devy. I got a 32 on the september SAT and improved to a 35 for the october one. It looks like you need to concentrate on your math, just do a lot of math practice problems and you're good to go

At this point, I think there is not much you can do to improve - you just have to get lucky and get a test form that is easy. I got a 34 in June and retook in October and got a 35, and the only studing I did was take one practice test the day before to remember how the test was formatted.

Retake the test and try to stay focused while taking the test.

What % of those who score 32 get a higher score on the retake? Easy to tell the guy to go ahead, but devy should proceed w/ caution.

it depends on what he screwed up on. I got a 31 and am retaking because i knew nothing of teh science and it screwed me over. Also, does it really matter if u score lower? Colleges see ur best score. But if you have no obvious weakness you can easily improve, i wouldnt retake

I need to get a 30 above on my ACT.... PLEASE HELP!!!!!! what books and think.. i can raise my score from a 27 to 31.. or something..

PLEASE HELP.. i need help completely... please tell me what to do
35 and 36 ppl.. please tell me waht to do to improve my reading and english

which book is good? please help!

im very desperate

tryin2Bcool has the right idea

There's a gap between a 32 and a 35+ that 'luck' will not bridge - not in most cases, anyways.

luck definitely raised my score 3 points. I got two 30's then a 33, without any prep between tests. sometimes you just get a test you like, or get some lucky guesses, or something..

The three points from a 32 to a 35 are not equivalent to the three points from a 30 to a 33. The higher you go, the more difficult each point gain is.

either way it's 3 points in the 30+ range... 32->35 is doable, and luck can help

I have a "bridgeable gap" imo. I got 30R 31E 34S 35M = 33... I'm retaking and shooting for a 35. Other than practice tests, any advice?

Honestly, I would just take practice tests. I got a 33 on the September ACT and then a 35 on the October. To raise my score, I only took a few practice tests...that was it. Make sure you actually adhere to the timing, though. Otherwise, the practice is a waste. Hope that helps.

For all of you who want to improve. The best way is practice! The best way to practice is with MCGRAW HILL"s 10 ACT test. If you do all of the test, your score will definatly go up. By prepping with this book, I was able to jump from a 31 to a 34.

I got a 32 the first time and I just found out that I got a 34 on the Oct test.

My advice: borrow practice tests and do PRACTICE TESTS like CRAZZZY. Reading the summaries and tips are useful, but PRACTICE TESTS ARE KEY.

Also, I suggest you do all the odds so that you can get through more breadth of test topics/questions.

This is really time consuming... BUTtttt.... after you answer each question, check your answer, and read the explanation (EVEN IF YOU GOT IT RIGHT).

If you do your whole test and THEN check ur answers, you're going to forget what your thought process was like when you were answering the questions.... So yea, check after each question.
