How to prepare for GRE Writing?

Hi! I am a non-native English speaker in my second year at a US school, and I hope to take the GRE this September. But I have no clue how to prepare for the Writing section. I write very well for a science-oriented non-native English speaker, in the sense that my writing is fluid, I don't do grammar mistakes, and usually no spelling mistakes. That's not what I have to focus on, but mostly on speed. I always write very slowly. It takes me around 3-4 days to finish a 4-5 page paper for school, while doing nothing else.

I think a "recipe" for a good GRE essay would help me, like it did for the SAT. back then I found an altered version from the Grammatix book very helpful: a 5-paragraph essay with an intro, 3 well-supported examples and a conclusion. I knew that I had to use some specific words and specific sentence structures to impress and write a 6-point essay. Eventually I was able to become fast enough and pulled a 9 out of 12 on the test.

Would a similar "recipe" work for a GRE essay? Or is it too simplistic for a college student? Is any book providing a strategy of this kind for GRE? Or are there any tips for writing a good essay fast?

I think so. Spend some time looking at sample essays posted on the ETS website and in GRE practice books to get an idea of the structure they are looking for. Barron’s and PrincetonReview provide some helpful advice on how to structure the essays.

I didn’t bother studying for the writing part since I am applying for engineering, and the programs weren’t too concerned with the writing score. GRE essay scoring is also crap.
