I don’t think it’s a wise idea to assume that you’re going to be rejected by all four. Don’t assume anything and don’t prepare for acceptance or rejection because it’ll make you anxious and the outcome will be the same whether you worry or not. Just be happy you’re going to college, and get excited about the silly little things that will be the same wherever you go. Assume that you will have a room to personalize, friends to meet, professors to learn from, a career to get a jump-start on… those types of things. The name will come later. I’m waiting to hear from all of my top 5 schools, and in the meantime, am looking for posters to put up in my dorm room and figuring out which schools are closest to my favorite retail stores. You know, fun stuff that. So just take it easy and don’t even worry about it until the letters start showing up.

Even if you don’t get rejected, it’s likely that some of your friends will be. Might be nice to start thinking about how you’ll help them get through it, regardless of your own outcome.

I know a lot of people saying ‘Just pretend you’ll get rejected and then you’ll get a nice surprise when you don’t get rejected’ Well that’s what I did and it works TERRIBLY! While it does 100% eliminate worry/anxiety/disappointment, it also eliminates your hope and motivation. So DON’T DO IT! Just keep neutral and think ‘If I do get in, I will be happy, but if I don’t, I always have other places I can go’ (even if that’s your local CC)

I think I’ve found you guy’s problem. You all are looking to “prepare” for rejection. I think I’ve gone the better root - accepting rejection. I alreay feel like I’m rejected at every college I’ve applied to. It is a horrible feeling, but atleast I won’t feel crushed when all my rejections come on March 30th.

UVAorBust, I am with you about rejection !!!
I am applying to a few extremely competitive schools (Caltech, UCB, UCLA), so I will not be surprised if I get rejected …

You might try putting a little time and energy into falling in love with one of your safeties, or at least one of your matches.

LasMa, even that doesn’t work. I tried to take my mind off of UVA and like my safety, UF, but was shortly rejected. Sigh…
