How to prepare for SATII: Literature

After realizing that someone who got a 660 SAT I math and 535 on the level II math diagnostic test probably shouldnt be taking a math subject test, I've decided to take literature... Thing is I don't know how to prepare. I heard it's similar but more in-depth than SAT I CR (Where I got a 770 on the real SAT but have gotten 680-730's on recent practice tests)... I'm also in AP lang and the MC passages have been either hit (80%+) or miss (40%)... How should I prep... I'm returning my barrons math book and am leaning toward getting a DH for US history but may also want something for lit, unless they are less expensive ways I can prepare by june. I already have a good ability to work through passages and because of my work with latin, I also have good knowledge of rhetorical/literary devices. However time will be an issue and during long passages, I tend to get ADD. I hate how all my posts become stream-of-consciousness rants.... How hard will it be to get 740+ on the lit test? I don't have much time but I'm also not starting from scratch.

BUMP. I really would appreciate guidance… :D

So no one’s ever taken this test? I’d like some current support… I’ve read old threads but am still not decided… what review book should I get? Kaplan is the best? After using barron’s, I wont ever be touching that series again.

kaplan, do the practice tests, learn the terms.

I used Princeton Review and got a 790. My only complaint was that they left “apostrophe” off of their list of literary terms. Otherwise, I found it helpful.

Well, like I said, I am very familiar with a lot literary devices, ranging from anaphora to zeugma, and I scan dactylic hexameter (in Latin anyways), but I am unfamiliar with poetry in both languages, meaning that I have no idea what even basic things such as iambic pentameter, storphes, stanzas, couplets mean, but meanwhile I know things such as prolepsis, proteron hysteron, and preterition… go figure.

Will I be fine buying Kaplan then? I’m taking the plunge tonight…

Lit has been ****ing me off lately, for some reason my score on the 4th practice test in the Kaplan book dropped down to like a 560 for some reason when I was getting 700 on the first 3. Has anyone else had this?

ThaMan, I too have had a similar problem with score fluctuating. I scored 700 first test, 780 second, and then only a 650 third test! I think it might have something to do with the different passages and perhaps not fully analyzing and understanding them. Try to see where you did poorly, do some review, and then try again. I know for me it seems that my score fluctuates in the poetry area. If you can pin-point the type of passage your score is fluctuating on, then you should be good to go, and able to improve that area by review…

I’d recommend just reading some poetry and training yourself to understand the meaning of poems. Also figures of speech etc

You can also prepare by taking the practice test online.

I’m considering taking the lit test so I’d also appreciate any advice
