I'm currently a junior and I really want to attend the University of Washington Seattle (in-state). I've always had a 4.0 taking every honors/AP class offered and EC's such as varsity cheer, class VP, national honor society, etc. but I was super bummed out after taking the SAT's for the first time (1530). I've turned to taking the ACT and I've taken about 2 ACT practice tests (online and from the red ACT book). My composite was a 27 (E 24, M 25, R 33, S 26) and my target score is a 30. I like it much better than the SAT but any advice on how to raise my english and math scores? I have my first ACT February 8th. It seems like colleges mainly pay attention to the english and math... (I know they look at composite but whenever I look at the average ACT scores for colleges they only mention the english and math... why?) and what were your ACT scores and how have they improved? I plan on taking a practice test every weekend until my test but I feel like that won't be enough.

Just keep taking the practice tests, there is really no other way to improve your scores other than that - and getting enough rest and eating well and keeping yourself healthy. Your stats look good, I think you’ll get in.

yeah I guess the practice tests and familiarizing myself with the test will be huge when it comes down to it so i’ll just focus on that, thank you

Go blazers

This is a plan that I use:

I take one section of the ACT 4 nights per week. And a full test on the weekend.

I use only real ACT tests and score sheets.

I time myself for every section. I cannot stress enough how important this is.

The Red real act book has 5 tests. It is a good place to start.
Rip up the book and make individual packets of tests and answer keys. It will save time you time because you do not have to flip back and forth.

Finally, I review ONLy the questions i got wrong.

Good luck.

good idea kansaskid! i’ll definitely try taking one section over the course of 4 nights, ripping up the book would probably be a good idea too… i get so tired of flipping haha and thanks! i’ll be sure to check it out

you’re welcome go blazers
