I just saw my ACT score for October, and I’m very upset. I’ve taken the ACT four times, and I’ve gotten a 33 every time. I’ve spent hours and hours studying for this test, I’ve tried private tutoring, I think I have around seven prep books. Overall it’s been a huge waste of time and money, and I really want to raise my score just one point. How is it possible that I can’t even get up one point with all this work? Has anyone had the same problem, or was anyone else able to raise their score a point in the 30s?
A 33 is a great score. Is there a specific merit scholarship you are shooting for that requires a 34? If not, it may be time to move on and spend your time working on other aspects of your college admissions profile.
33 is an excellent score! I know you really want a 34, but I think there comes a point where you begin to plateau and raising your score is difficult. Its apparent here–taking the ACT FOUR times and getting a 33 each, with hours of prep, indicates that that’s as good as you can do. I took the ACT 3 times and got a 29, and just took it again with a 30 (taking it one last time to bump to a 33 lol). At this point, I would be content with the 33 and focus on strengthening other areas of your app. If the 34 was for scholarship purposes, I’m sorry I know how you feel.
