Sorry, this has just been bugging me, I wanna make sure I understand this clearly.
For the AP Exams, my school should guide me through signing up and everything right? Or do I need to do something completely on my own? What about exams that I'm self-studying for?
How does it all work?

Technically, it’s not the school’s responsibility, especially not in a huge public one like mine.
Try to find out who in your school handles the AP exams. Do you have an AP Coordinator? Talk to him/her about the AP classes you are taking AND the additional AP exams you are self-studying for, and make sure your counselor finds out as well.
If you don’t have an AP Coordinator, talk with your counselor and he/she should be able to point you in the right direction.

Thanks! Is this something I should be doing real soon, or do I have some time?

You might want to get it done before February just in case issues pop up, because I think my counselor told me the deadline to register for AP tests (without the late fee) is sometime in February. Good luck! :)
