The first app, due this week, asks for all scores so ds has to report both act scores. All of the other schools just ask for best scores so how does he submit the first one with all scores and then go back and remove the ones that aren't the best or are not necessary? Is the only way to do this to make 2 versions of the common app? Thanks in advance for your help!

Unless a school uses self reported test scores, it’s the official ones that count, not what’s reported on the application. If it really matters to you/him, the only way to fix it now is to make an alternate version of the application.

Thanks for your reply, reeinaz. Yes, we’ve come to the conclusion that the only way to remove scores that the first application reports is to make a new version of the common app. He hasn’t submitted any applications yet but the school says to report all ACT scores but only send one to save money, I guess. So we sent all the SATs and only one ACT but still have to report the first ACT. It’s a bummer but apparently not that hard to make another version of the common application. Still, you should be able to go in and edit it for each school without having to make another version-geez. I guess this is so difficult because if you can’t do the thing, you shouldn’t go to college-lol!

Making and accessing the second version is not really a big deal. Your son will be able to toggle between the two versions if he wants from the first screen after he signs in.

The thing to remember is that in order to move schools from version 1 to version 2 you have to delete them from version 1 and it will prompt you by asking if you want to move the school to version 2.

Thanks for that helpful tip! I know it’s not a big deal but it just seems the whole thing could be easier, doesn’t it? I guess this just pales in comparison to doing the CSS Profile and “guestimating” financials for Nov 1 that will have to be redone come January. It’s all just practice, right?-lol! I was reading about the FAFSA and having to delete colleges to enter more since it only allows 10 so that will be worse, I think. In this economy, a lot of kids are applying to a lot of schools because of finances so they should allow more than 10 on that form.

Once you create version 2 of common app, you will edit only ONCE in the V2 with best scores and that goes to all schools.
