How to request a change of my major?

I literally just sent my application, but in the spur of the moment, I had to select a different major than I had originally intended (mainly parents’ request).
How do I go about changing my major?

You apply to ND as a general student, not to a particular major/school. They ask for your intended major, but just for general interest. If you’re accepted and choose to attend, you’ll enter into First Year Studies, where you’ll set up your course to whatever school/major you decide. There’s no need to change your intended major now. I knew people who changed their intended major before they showed up, or on their first day of classes. You’re fine.

In my case though, it might be critical and have impact on their decision because I selected “Neuroscience and Behavior” and I just read that specific major require 4 years of math, but I’ve only taken 3.

I hope we don’t see you back here in two years with “I want to major in ___ but my parents insist that I major in ___.”
It’s your life.

@duckIsland15 is correct as far as your current question is concerned.

@fruitist So far as I know, as a recent ND graduate, there are no ND majors that have requirements specific to your high school education. If the major you selected requires four years of math, that almost certainly means four years of math at ND.

Here are that major’s requirements: http://science.nd.edu/assets/172303/nsandb_curriculum_aug_16_update.pdf

As you see, all the requirements are college courses. Your high school record doesn’t come into play.

you can email you admissions councilor but if you are admitted they probably just won’t let you pursue that particular major.

You can send an email to your counselor if it will help you to sleep better at night. Just keep it brief and to the point.

Just email ndforms@nd.edu and say what major you want to change to. I did this and someone emailed me back saying they changed it
