How to reset my grades

I want to transfer into engineering but my gpa and grades are abysmal. I was getting B’s and C’s in the beginning but now that I’ve become serious about transferring my grades have become straight A’s. My grades in the past are seriously affecting my GPA which is a 3.4 right now. I’ve already completed all the math, physics, and chemistry and I already applied so there is nothing I can do to save my GPA.

So I’m wondering is there anyway to restart my entire community college transcript? I want to reset everything back to 0. Also, if I do manage to do this, will colleges ask me about my previous college experience? If I have a 3.4 right now and hypothetically manage to get a 4.0 in all the same classes again, what is the university’s attitude towards this?

I really don’t believe this is possible. I know that if you fail a class or withdraw, often times community colleges will often let you re-take a course and “forgive” the bad grade and that a number of universities will recognize the new grade. However, there are places (I know USC is one) that doesn’t honor grade forgiveness and they will count both grades toward your GPA. I mean you could always start at a different community college and completely lie about ever having attended your current one, but I’m sure there are several ways for the university to find out such as the National Student Clearing House of transcripts and this would seriously jeopardize your future at your newly transferred university if they found out. I had been to six community colleges and I made sure to send in my transcripts for every single one (even though I sure wanted to leave out my grades of a W and B at one) :stuck_out_tongue:

And honestly, your GPA isn’t by any means terrible. I had a 4.0 GPA and was literally rejected from just about every school I had applied for - I didn’t even get into my safety school, CSULB. I applied again the next year with a lower GPA and was then accepted to every school that had rejected me the year before. I would also give USC a shot if it’s not on your list. I’ve seen people with 2.5 GPA’s get into their business school and other amazing success stories.

You need to find out what the policy is at your CC. If you re-take a class, is your old grade erased from your transcript?

Whenever you apply for admission at an accredited college or university in the US, you have to send all of your transcripts. There is no way to get around that.

A 3.4 is not a bad GPA for a pre-engineering student who has taken all that math, physics, chem, etc. Go have a sit-down meeting with the Transfer Advisor at your CC, and find out where pre-engineering students with grades like yours have been admitted in the past few years. Find out whether or not your CC has any articulation agreements with engineering programs at 4-year colleges/universities. If there are articulation agreements in effect, make sure that you do have the courses required by those agreements and that you meet any specific grade requirements. If you do, you will be guaranteed admission to those programs.
