How to resolve timing issues with the ACT?!!?! HELP.

SO, I've been practicing throughout the past couple of months mostly consistently....but I'm still having trouble figuring out HOW to manage time in both science and reading. I consistently score high in math and english now (like 33-35 range) but my reading scores, in Kaplan have been around 26 and science scores around 24. WHAT should i do!?!?

I've been saving the ACT REAL book for the last couple of weeks before the exam, which would be about now, so I can get an accurate measurement. So I am not sure if taking these will make a drastic difference in my score, but what should i do. I've read many of the tips here especially about science and that its beter not to read the passages, but sometimes you sorta have to and then when I realize i should read the passage, I find that I wasted double the time (trying to figure out if I should read or not).

I am so sick of this. I hate the ACT. I hate applying to college. I hate essays. I hate life. ahhhh. (k i know that was a bit dramatic but you know what i mean)!

I am senior now and September is my last chance and I really want to give it my all but I don't know what I can do anymore. I scored a 29 on the last official test date, I am looking for a 30+. It could be possible since I have improved my math score quite a bit...but I hate this imbalance between all my score. UGH.

Do the tests in the Real ACT book. Make sure you go over the answers as well and learn any concepts you don’t know. It should help you score higher. As for science, I find that there is no way for me to read the passage and get to all the questions. But, you need to do whatever works for you. I can’t give you any particular advice on that.

Just stick in there. With a 29+, I’m sure you will get into a great college and things will be fine. Oh, and Kaplan sucks. SUCKS. Take a Real ACT and see what you score. It will be more accurate and will probably be a good indication of where you currently are score-wise.

Thanks. I just took a Real ACT science test and scored a 27 with one minute to spare, so I guess thats a little better. Still need to practice more though =/

I wish ACT provided more real practice tests.

They do provide 3 more. They are released in the Prep packet each here. I have uploaded them here for you:

But, if you don’t want to do them on your computer screen, you will need to print it out. I would recommend printing (maybe at school?) so that it is more like the real thing.
