How to say I want to double major on application

I intend to double major in college, and while I am aware one declares a second major later on, all of my ec bolster my app for one major while my course selection bolsters my application for my other prospective major. Is there any way for me to indicate I would like to double major?

It depends on the college… but honestly, it isn’t likely to bolster your chances of admission to say you want to double major. In fact, choice of major often has little impact on admission because colleges know a huge percentage of students will change their majors anyway. In fact, many colleges pride themselves on the idea that part of their purpose is to expose you to subject areas you haven’t thought about a lot before, and possibly change your career trajectory through that process. They see that as part of the value they provide. So students who think that “proving” that one (or more) majors is your absolute certain future aren’t always doing themselves a favor… I would not worry about this unless it is a school where the majors reside in different “colleges” that have separate admissions. You do want to make sure the colleges you apply to allow double majors or that it is feasible (an example of a college where it is difficult is Reed, where all majors are required to do a senior thesis, and you would have to do 2 of them with 2 majors, which is pretty nearly impossible to do and finish in four years).

That said, it is okay to put a comment in your “additional information section” that you are considering double majoring, or that you are undecided but may major in “X” or “Y”. But it probably won’t make a lot of difference in your admissions. Another possible place to mention it is in the “Why College X” essay if that is a supplement for some of your colleges.
