For all the schools that you have decided to not go to what do you do next? Do you just send them a letter or something?

call the dean and be like "you got punk'd, chump." :)

I think that all you have to do is stiff them with the first check, i.e. simply not do anything.
Bet be nice, call and ask. You don't know where you'd wanna go for grad school.

Send them a letter.

Thank you very much for the offer of admissions to your college. Unfortunately I find that I must decline the offer. I regret that it is necessary to make choices such as this since I know that I will be missing out on many experiences at your institution, but I have decided to attend Harvard University. Thank you for your attention to my application.

lol.. dufus... that will get you black-listed at the college!!

Many of them send you a postcard that you can use to decline.

dufus's answer is actually pretty cordial, though it might be more tactful to not mention which uni/college you are going to attend, unless they reply and ask where. Then it's up to you whether or not to say anything. I know UChicago tends to be very gracious about being rejected.

You SHOULD send them a letter (or at least an e-mail) so they know to release your space to someone who is waitlisted. It's just common courtesy.

Write them a nice note. Schools won't be offended by the school you chose to go to (unless you told this school you're turning down that it was your #1), and I think it's nice to mention it. Colleges get picked and turned down all the time; I'm sure they like to know what happens to the kids they admit. If you want, throw in a compliment about the school you're turning down (I mean--you did apply!).

I think you should most definitely send some kind of notification that you won't be attending. Most schools have some kind of postcard or something to send if you choose not to attend. It is the cordial thing to do, there are people waiting on waiting lists.

call them. its best

given security and privacy concerns, calling won't work; they want it in writing.

Some colleges will allow you to send an email thru the 'myapp space' that they create for you. Others, just send back to postcard and check 'no thanks', or send a short note and thank them for their consideration. But, suggest you make copies, so you can send a copy of the copy if need be.

im going to use my rejection letters, and change the names around to the colleges im not going too

itll be like, "after long and thoughtful consideration, I have decided to deny matriculation at your college. Each year, many qualified students, like me, must turn down your offer to admission because of the strong competition. Whatever students you get, I know that you will have a succesful future, and I wish you the best of luck."

thatll give them a laugh

haha thats a pretty smart idea stonecold.
