I'm a sophomore now, and I plan to self study AP Calc AB next year while I'm taking honors pre-calc. I've learned trig and algebra II before but my score didn't recognize the credit. What books should I buy and how should I prepare for it? I heard it's hard, but since there's still over a year, I think it should be managable. (I'm planning to buy Peterson's and PR, and start it over the summer)
In addition, I got 124 in AMC10 (which isn't really that good...should have gotten 139.5 ><) and 5 on AIME (which isn't that impressive too)

Thanks for any suggestions there.
btw, do anyone self study for AP Calc AB? most people seem to self study AP CAlc BC..

Get yourself a good textbook (Our class used Calculus: Early Transcendentals by James Stewart...it's been okay).

Google for Paul's Online Math Notes (they are VERY helpful ;))

Find an AP Calc syllabus online (I think they have some sample ones on the College board site). Use the syllabus to plan a studying schedule

Study :)

I found the hard thing about Calculus is that it seems like most of the concepts are new. Once you understand it though, it's really useful!

An extremely hard math test you have to qualify to take. I think the national median is a 1 and a mean a 0? Anyway, if you get an 11 on it you qualify for the national math olympiad.

So my math teacher lied to me, surge...I guess she was just trying to dissuade me from taking the AMC (or whatever the preliminary test is). lol.
