How to Self-Study World History SAT 2?

I have not taken a class in World History since freshman year and do not remember a thing. I am trying to self-study for the World History SAT 2 and would appreciate any advice from anyone who has done the same thing or has relied heavily on review books to achieve a good score. I have read PR's SAT 2 book for a basic background, and I have just got Barron's guide for the SAT 2 and also the Barron's AP review book. Would these two be sufficient? Any other good books? Obviously the amount of time necessary to do well varies by person depending on their ability, but assuming one has a good memory but not prior knowledge, how long would it take to achieve a score of 750+? Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Bump! Has anyone self-studied for this test or have any good advice in general?

I did take a world history course, but it was very elementary so I had to do a lot of self-studying. I read three review books, Princeton, Kaplan, and Barrons. I read these books and I also took the tests, I did no form of note taking. If you read these three closely you should be fine. Also, it helped me a lot to memorize really important dates and locations. There will never be any question like what year did “x” happen; however, a knowledge of dates and geography can really help on certain questions.

I got a 790 doing the above.

Thanks for the advice jammer11. How many times did you read each of those review books through? Which did you find the most useful for review and which had the best practice tests?

Bump, anyone else?

I read through each one once, and I think Barrons is the best.

My son said Kaplan was a waste of his time. He really liked Barrons and got an 800 on the test.

Also, I just wanted to make sure you know WH is only offered in June and December.

Yeah, I plan on using mostly Barron’s since it seems the most thorough. And yes 2blue, I do know that it is not offered on all the test dates. I just wanted to start preparing for the December test early since I know very little about the subject and I will only have one shot before applying to college in the fall so I need to do well the first time.

One last bump…Anyone else taken this exam?

Hey, I haven’t taken the exam yet, but I’m planning on taking it in June… I’m using Barron’s and Kaplan, but I find Barron’s more detailed and thorough…
I was just wondering, is self-studying really enough (to get an 800)? because College Board recommends I think 2 years of high school courses… so I just selected two WH courses, and I hope they won’t be a waste?
