I want to send additional letters of rec for certain colleges, but they only have 2 slots. the college allows additional letters, but I cannot find out how to send them via common app. Any help please?

Need advice. please help.

I’m fairly sure (but could be wrong) that as long as the recommendation isn’t one of the required ones for that particular college, it can be sent on its own (direct from the recommender) without being recorded by you on the Common App. Just make sure that the recommender labels it clearly with your full name, school if applicable, and DOB. (Or you could always ask the individual admissions offices what to do…some schools’ policies are different.)

I want to do it via common app though since my teacher has already uploaded it on common app. I don’t want to bother my teacher during break…

I don’t think it’s possible. I guess all you can do is wait till the break is over and ask your counselor to snail mail it. I’m sorry, I know that’s not the type of news you were hoping for.

Ughh. we get back Jan 4th. Deadlines are Jan 1st. Means it will be late. =/

Yeah, if the college doesn’t allow you to add recommendations on the School Forms page, then you have to have them send it by mail. If you can give your recommender a stamped, addressed envelope, I’m sure they will have no problem sending it for you. Also, some college’s don’t really care whether supplemental recs are late (Jan 4 should be fine).

Some schools allow you to press “add recommender” extra times. If it wont let you, it has to be by snail mail.

Thanks. Really helpful comments.

Horace, do you think some of the Ivy League schools will care if the supplementary letters are late?
