Hi!
I will apply to several schools early with Nov 1st deadline.
In my case, I have gotten:
-an excellent MATH score on the first SAT
-an excellent WRITING score on the second SAT, and
-wishing for an awesome score for the READING section on the October SAT that I just took.
Just wondering:
-should I use four free scores for the October SAT? I think I did well on reading, but this is not definite.
-to send multiple SAT scores from different test dates (and also SAT subjects), do I have to pay the score send fee multiple times too? Or does 15$ (or whatever the fee is) cover all SAT and SAT Subject scores for one school?
-how long after I click ‘send’ on my collegeboard account do colleges receive my scores? Is it an instant thing, or does it take several weeks to arrive?
-since I’m applying early, when should I send my scores? (oct score comes out on 22nd–will it be too late?)
-I know some schools do score choice, but some don’t. Do schools know whether you used score choice or not? Is there an extra fee for score choice service?
Thank you so much for your help and time! : )
CB sends all your SAT scores unless you indicate otherwise. https://sat.collegeboard.org/register/us-services-fees Sending is not instantaneous but generally within the week.
From what I understand,if you have an excellent score from a particular SAT, CB sends all scores from that date. So it sounds like your test 1 and test 2 should be sent unless your 3rd test has your highest scores on all sections.
When you are in your account, you search for the school name, add it, then you can either pick the option to send all scores OR you can select the scores you want to send. For the SAT I, you select the test date. For subject tests, you pick and choose which ones to send.
Before you do all this, though, you need to understand what the policy is for each school. Some schools want to see your entire testing history. Some want to see all SAT I tests but allow score choice on SAT II. Some want to see both SAT and ACT if you have taken both.
I don’t know if colleges can see whether you have submitted your entire testing history or if you are only sending some scores. I wonder that myself. Honesty is the best policy, so I suggest you follow the school requirements to the letter. No extra charge for score choice.
I have noticed that CB seems to send the scores out every Friday. Something my son submitted last Monday showed as pending until Friday, and something he submitted on a Thursday the previous week got submitted to the schools on Friday. but maybe this is because they are not crushed with volumes of requests now. It could take a few weeks, from what I have read.
The fee covers all scores sent to each college for a submission request (SAT). So if you are sending to 5 colleges, you pay the fee for each college, but not each specific test. If you change your mind and want to send more scores later, you pay the fee again. But if you want to send 5 SAT I scores and 3 subject test scores to a school today, same fee.
