<p>I keep up reading in threads about constant correspondence and else to display " demonstrated interest" to set a candidate apart. How can I do so at the same time not sounding desperate? </p>

<p>Checking if your application is complete might be a good idea (if you cannot check online) but wait another few weeks to give colleges time to process everything. Generally, only call with honest and informed questions (i.e. something that is not answered on their website). </p>
<p>Are you interested in any activities that have “prospective ___” forms? (Athletes, sometimes artists) You could fill out those. </p>
<p>Demonstrating interest is usually done by interviewing (possible for internationals) and visiting a college (might not always be an option). Early correspondence might be helpful too. Short story: I e-mailed my current college twice asking about ED and other stuff, once in September and once in early November. When I recently went to my dean, I saw that they kept copies of those e-mails in my file…</p>
