How to show leadership/unofficial qualities in a college application?

I am having trouble showing leadership qualities and 'talents' in my college application.
For leadership, most of my examples come from ballet: I talk about how I once saved a performance when the music started skipping in my common app essay (but had to focus more on the teamwork than my leadership because of the point I'm making) and mention my work as an assistant teacher/rehearsal director at my dance school. I feel like these two things are pretty weak though, but I can't think of any other examples...what are ways that most students show "leadership" in their application?

Another thing I'm struggling to show is anything unofficial that I've been interested in. I don't have a hugely impressive list of EC's but I have become interested in quite a few things independently. For example, I've recently started getting into cooking and making chocolates, and I'm actually pretty good. However, I obviously have no set hours or teacher or anything as I've done this, and a few other things, by myself. Is there a way I can mention this in my application?

Finally, many of the colleges I am applying to have "personal characteristics/qualities" as something that they consider to be very important in an applicant. How can an applicant show off their best personal qualities in an application (especially as a few of my schools have no supplemental essays!!)

Sorry I have so many questions...help with any of these is very much appreciated.
Give a link to a thread of yours if you'd like an answer back and I'll do my best to help out!
Thanks so much :D

bump!! I’d really appreciate some help with this…

Dancing is a very time intensive EC and IMO you do a good job of showing leadership in that. The only way you could bring in the chocolates is in the essay (why you do it, what you get out of it - besides pounds…).
