hi i am having trouble on finishing reading and science how do i practice speed?
i read slow..

You have to use different tactics.
I used to get low 20s, but after changing it, I get high 20s.

how do you approach them?

For Reading, I just read the passage first and answered the questions.
Before, I used to look at the questions first and read the passages.
But I found out that it is basically a waste of time to spend reading questions before actually reading the passage since I forgot about them.

Trust your first answer.
Never dwell on one question.
Get ‘in the zone’ prior to taking the test. (Pretend that your life depends on completing the section if you have to.)
Practice, practice, practice prior to the test. (Practice tests and what not)

You need to do A LOT of practice. This was what I’ve been doing since summer started. When I first took the ACT in June, I ran out of time in math, reading, and science. I got a 29, 29, 32, respectively.

After a summer of practicing, I rarely ever run out of time. From doing practices I’m at a 33, 31, 33, respectively. Time was never the issue with English but I went from a 25 to a 31 on practices. I’ve probably taken at least 16 practice tests. Besides English, everything else didn’t go up too drastically, however, time is no longer an issue. I can now focus on actually answering the questions right.

Some people will tell you to skip the paragraphs in the science section and go straight to the questions but I find that this just confuses me so I would recommend skimming the paragraphs that tell you about the experiments first and then going to the questions.

The graphs and tables are pretty straightforward so make sure you do those questions first! Don’t be afraid to skip the lengthy ones and go back to them, because each question counts equally.
