How to spend summer effectively?

I really want to get into Wharton and Sloan, an MIT college, and I understand that showing colleges an interest in a particular field is important and I intend to do exactly that this summer. However, I'm in a slight dilemma. I have a big interest in scientific engineering as well as math. I want to go the Cooper Union scientific engineering internship program that runs the entire month of July to the first week of August. I also want to participate in Awesome Math, a math camp running through the first half of July, which is located at Cornell University, not far from where I live. The math camp also takes place from the last week of July to August, but it's in California and my parents don't want me to go away too far.

To be honest, I prefer math over science and my college application will have heavy math-related extra curricular activities. My question is if I enter the internship, will that be more effective than going to the math camp? Thanks :)
