I want to start a club at my school. Sounds easy enough, right? Well, I want to start a club that's more of a charity than a club. I want to get students involved in raising money for my school. I go to LaGuardia in NYC, and we have a lot of arts classes. Some of those classes (Jazz Studies and Piano for Beginners which I know most schools don't have, but those classes are really important in doing well for certain mandatory classes), in addition to academic classes (such as regular French 5/6, I'll post a link to that story if you want to hear it), are being cut because we can't afford to keep them. I want to help the school in anyway I can. We have a Parents Association, but we still suffer from a lot of issues because of lack of funds.

Does anyone think this is a good idea? How would you start a club like this? How would you get kids interested in it? Or, be as harsh as possible and tell me the worst aspects of this plan.

PS- I know this will look great on college applications--but that is NOT the reason why I'm considering this project. I don't want to help my school only, but others in the NYC area. I just think it would be good to start somewhere. I also know I can't possibly make millions of dollars like other charities do, but I could at least try to help out.
