How to start Seimens research project

I know my topic, but how do I do research something that I am not entirely knowledgeable of. Where do I start? Today first pick a specific topic and then I think of an idea? How did you start your project? Thanks!

Wow, thanks a oot guys lol

It might be a tad late to start a really sound project if you plan to apply this year. The app is due in September and you need to actually do the project AND write an 18-page research paper. If you’re not a senior, maybe apply next year?

I have been doing my project since last year under a mentor. You should probably develop a really good idea and pitch it to professors in the field that you are researching. This alone will take a while, as professors are not exactly begging high school students to come work in their labs (I assume you want to work under a professors mentoring. If not, then I’m not quite sure how you would go about starting it, sorry!)

Like I said before, if you wanted to apply this year, consider putting it off until next year if you are not a senior. And if you are a senior, get started right now because you will need all the time you can get. Good luck!

Depending on how difficult your topic is, it may be too late, but I don’t know, a solid month of work plus two weeks writing could get you an entry. But it all depends on your topic. You really just need to dive in and start from the ground up until you have enough knowledge to tackle your problem.
