how to study for a history test

i have an american pageant test coming up soon. i've started studying, but i dont really know how to go about doing it. i need to focus more on the cause/effects of history and WHY people were here and HOW they got there. i already know the factual stuff, i just need to grasp the reasoning behind it. what is the best way to find this stuff out. should i just read the chapter again or what? what can i do to understand the reasonig behind things?

btw the test will be AP style, multiple choice.

what can i do to study?

I have and AP textbook too (not American Pagent, my teacher has something against it) and if you skim the paragraphs you can know the facts. However, if you acctually READ the chapter, you know how and why and those kinds of things.
I hope I helped... Good luck!

PS. I use Out of Many (AP Version)

Ici, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Out-Many-History-American-Combined/dp/0139497609%5B/url%5D">http://www.amazon.com/Out-Many-History-American-Combined/dp/0139497609</a> this?

there are notes online for that textbook. guarantee A for me

As boring as the Pageant is, try reading it; preferably during the middle of the day so you don't fall asleep. :P

Or you can look through test-prep books, though they don't really have much social history.

BTW, this is the book our APUSH classes use and I like it more than The American Pageant.
