How to study for ACT in 5 days?

Hi CC:

Here’s my story regarding my ACT scores up to now.

Summer 2015: Took SAT/ACT prep class at my school. Weighed more on the old SAT. My average composite was a 25-26. (usually a 28M 28E 22R 22S). Writing score was 8; the class never really touched upon it.

Late Spring 2016: Took diagnostic exam offered at local ACT test prep center. I didn’t touch the ACT for nearly a year and I feel happy about my scores: 29E 27M 26R 25S for a composite of 27. (would probably have been 28-29 on math section if i guessed the ones I were stuck on rather than leaving them blank; I didn’t answer them lol).

Now, Summer 2016: It’s 6 days until the ACT exam I signed up for. I have Princeton’s Elite 36, Barron’s ACT 36, and a Barron’s book that focuses on the math and science sections. My current plan is to just completely go through the Princeton book and take 1 full exam midweek to see if I improve at all. My goal is to get a composite of 32.

I’m definitely going to take the ACT again in Fall and December if I REALLY need to, and I will certainly be well prepared for that. I get that 5 days isn’t an ample amount of time to study for a test as the ACT; any recommendations for improving my score in this time period?

tl;dr How to go from 27-32 on ACT in 5 days? Many thanks.

Focus on your weakest spots where you can bring the scores up the most. Look at general solving methods for types of problems (exp. general solving for plane geometry).

Doing a practice exam would be useful because the hardest thing about the ACT is the pace. It’s good to know what sections you need to really push yourself and which ones you can ease up.

Review the writing scoring rubric.
