I start college fall 2015 (if all goes as planned and im able to get my GED) at a local CC so the MCAT's are pretty far away, but im curious as how one would study for it? is it similar to studying for the GED? do they give out study books? and what kind of questions could one expect to see on it?

When you start studying there will be several study guides from various companies as well as practice tests that are both private and from AMCAS that you will be able to purchase. It is not a test that you want to take without studying, so be able to dedicate a few months to studying the material after you have taken all the pre-reqs, including biochemistry.

Take a free practice test from AAMC or another company so you can see the type of information you should pay attention in your pre-reqs. Also, I would buy like a full set of MCAT books early on to study from for your regular classes and mark/highlight in them so that when you come back to study for the actual MCAT 3-4 months before your test date you’ll have a good idea about the material and what you’re good/bad. Your college classes go into more depth than the MCAT so you can write little notes on the MCAT book to help you later on.
