How to study (in general, not for a specific topic)?

As a student taking his/her first AP classes, what suggestions would you give for studying? (I know this is incredibly ambiguous, but I'd just like to hear the gamet of ideas out there).

Well for me my methods of studying vary between classes. Usually I study extremely hard for the first test of a class and then when I become more familiar with the test format, I have a better idea of how to prepare for that test. As far as having to study by reading notes, reading the book or stuff I usually do all of those methods for the first test and then I will know after taking it if I must continue studying like that or only read the book etc. Teachers tell you not to cram but I always cram the night before and I never have trouble getting mostly A’s except usually one B which comes in AP English. When I have only one test on a day, I just study for it the day before and do fine. If I have two tests then I usually study for one of them two days before the test and the other one the day before the test. I won’t cram my studying for two tests the day before unless one of them will take little time. The difficulty of AP classes varies a lot between schools. The AP U.S. History class at my school is extremely rigorous however I have heard that at some schools it’s not too bad. I am in AP Chemistry this year and haven’t had to study for any tests and have been making straight 98+'s, I am not smart or anything but the teacher just makes it too easy. Difficulty just depends on how hard the teacher makes his or her class. Pre-AP classes may take a lot of study time as well, I spend more study time for some Pre-AP classes than AP.

Edit: I am in 5 Pre-AP and 2 AP classes and am not having any trouble at all studying and my brother is actually in 5 AP and 2 Pre-AP classes and he is having very little trouble as well in them so don’t worry a whole lot about AP classes: they’re very doable :)! And sorry for a huge wall of text, the question was kinda vague so I did the best I could answering it.
