<p>No, you can’t do that.</p>
<p>If you want to sign up for Professor Steel, then you have to sign up for the discussion corresponding to Professor Steel’s lecture.</p>
<p>In other words, if you drop Professor Coward’s lecture, then you’re also dropping the discussion whatever you’re in.</p>

<p>No one is going to drop the class until the first week or two of the school.
I wouldn’t bother dropping it right when adjustment period begins but wait until school starts.</p>
<p>Looking at the enrollment status, there is no reason to limit the enrollment at 350 when 155 Dwinelle can fit a lot more than that, so at worse comes to worst, the math department will hopefully increase the enrollment cap (for both lecture and discussions) and everyone can enroll into either lecture.</p>
<p>Unless your current 1A lecture time is destroying your schedule, I would just keep it since it sounds like you have a discussion section time too.</p>
