How to test into higher French

I took French 1 in 8th grade, when I went to a new school they wouldn't give me credit for it and I had to take it again which was very aggravating. I have an amazing French tutor who takes me well beyond the curriculum. My sister is fluent and has spent years in France and I myself have gone to french speaking Canada and also an immersion camp in France for two months. I'm applying to boarding schools and I know colleges want to see three years of a language.

I want to know what I should do to advance in french. I want to take the SAT subject test but I'm not sure what that will do for me. Is there some kind of proficiency test I can take to show my proficiency so that I don't have to take French 2 next year. Like what does the test show and what does a school do with that information?

please help! thank you for any answers

I’m not sure about the whole proficiency test, but if you want to skip French 2, you could test out if your school allows it.
