I'm currently a freshman at UMD majoring in computer science and I have a 3.2 GPA. I didn't apply to AA in high school because of my 1650 SAT and 3.0 GPA. Is there any way I could transfer to LSA at this point? I'm also URM if that helps.

Yo, I actually just finished my freshman year at UM-Dearborn and will be attending UM-A^2 this fall. Hopefully I can give you some insight/help you out.

So, honestly, from your stats it seems like it’s pretty unlikely that you’d get accepted at this point. The average GPA for an accepted transfer student is, I believe, right around a 3.6 and that’s with (I’d assume) around 60 incoming credits. It’s important to note that the two most important things for transfer admissions are the number of incoming credits and your college GPA. As you’ve just completed your freshman year it’s probably safe to assume you have ~30 credits, and so it seems that you’re a bit on the short end of the stick in both respects. Still, you may as well apply for the winter term, especially since you don’t have to pay for each application after that first one.
But despite all that, if you really buckle down and focus on getting as close to a 4.0 as possible, you could definitely still get in for the Fall 2015 or later term. From what I’ve heard if you’ve got a GPA around a 3.6 and enough credits you’re basically a shoe in for admissions. Plus, it seems like it might be a bit easier to get in from Dearborn than other places (I could be completely wrong, my evidence is TOTALLY anecdotal). Of the four people I know of (including myself) who applied to transfer to the A^2 campus from Dearborn 3/4 were accepted, though I think we all had > 3.8 GPAs.
Best of luck, you can do it!
