How to transfer to U of M Guthrie BFA Acting Program?

I am currently a BFA Acting student (Freshman) attending a small private school in WI. The program suits me, but I feel completely isolated in a small town after growing up in Minneapolis, and desperately want to go to school there.

I know the Guthrie BFA Acting program is very small and selective, and that I shouldn’t hedge all my bets on it, but I wanted to know if they accept transfers, and how (do I just audition like normal through acceptd?). I don’t understand the full process of transferring because I wasn’t intending to going into this.

I was going to finish the year and then audition to go there fall of 2021, and go there if accepted and stay if not. Is it possible to audition for the second semester? Are the chances of getting in as a transfer student even lower?

I’m really beating myself up for not auditioning for it sooner, I made many mistakes and missed the deadline. So any help is appreciated. I haven’t even thought about how difficult it would be to be accepted into the school either, but my gpa has gone up a lot from high school, and by how I’m working, it should stay that way. (Highschool was 3.3, in college I have almost a 4.0)

You need to contact this program directly and ask. They will be able to tell you what is possible and what any cut-off dates are.

I hope you ended up applying for fall of 2021. They do accept transfers but only in the fall.
