That should answer most of your questions. @SoMuchRegret

Bad, very bad, start to your college career! Did you get into any of the places you applied to? If yes, is there not one that you would be enthusiastic about attending? I am saying this not to be judgmental about the standards that you think you need to meet, but rather to counsel you to open your eyes and look at what’s wonderful – any of those schools will provide you with an amazing education that will set you up to be absolutely whatever you want to be in life. Although I do not know this for sure because I obviously do not know you, but perhaps something has wounded your ego and you feel that JHU, Duke or Stanford will cure the wound. If there is a specific program only available at JHU, Duke or Stanford, OK, think about trying to transfer after your sophomore year, but in the meantime please count your blessings – no need to punch yourself or call your screen name “so much regret.” How many students would trade with you in a heartbeat to go to U of Chicago, Tulane, Georgia Tech, etc? Best of luck to you in your academic and (equally importantly) spiritual development!

Excellent advice NJDad68. I will post my two favorite quotes that seem apt in this situation:
Hindsight. It’s like foresight without a future.
And
The grass is always greener…

And keep in mind that merit aid is extremely difficult to come by as a transfer.

If you are not in college yet, and you aren’t happy with the list of places where you applied this year, then take a Gap Year, and do something else while you sort through your thoughts. Then apply for admission for Fall 2017 at places you really are interested in.

thanks dude
