I am researching scholarshiips that the school has on their website, but my parents don't like to have to give so much personal information for 500.00. I guess this is why some do not have as many applicants, because to give up a few years of your tax returns to. I have one which is a buddhist organization which I know also donated to SANDY victims but my parents are just very hesitant. Do you think if your school posts them on their websites, their safe.

If the school posts them they are probably safe. But don’t give out credit card numbers or anything personal/private, like social security. Especially not for a 500$ scholarship. If it’s something big, then you might want to check with your counselor just in case.

Thats why my parents are concerned since their social security numbers are on the tax forms. I understand that if it is a financial need scholarship they need to know what you make but I wish you could white out their SS#'s. My mom had her identiy theft and is so nervous but I also don’t want to miss out on money for school

I’d white them out. If you are awarded the scholarship, then provide the SSN (yours, not your parents)
