My D was recently named a Intel semifinalist. How can we update colleges and is it too late?!

Have your daughter call the office of admissions and ask if there is an email address where she can send this information to be added to her file. She will probably be asked to include her name, application #, etc. Most schools have people on staff this time of year that address additions and corrections to the application. Congratulations to your D!! :)

Congratulations to your daughter! Agreed, contact the colleges. If your daughter received a letter, perhaps her admissions person at each school has a fax where this could be sent. If it were me, however, I would follow up any electronic submission with a snail mail copy and cover letter from your daughter.

Wonderful news.

Definitely e-mail and snail mail or fax just to be careful. Congrats, that is a wonderful achievement!

What they said. D did something like this (nothing as awesome as Intel!) last year. Just make sure an email that mentions the name of the college is sent to THAT college. Or hope the admissions office at $WRONG_SHCOOL has a sense of humor! [as the one she now attends did!]

Thank you all! Just wondering but am I too late with the updating already? And should she send the emails or can I do that for her?

Each school is different, so ask about deadlines. You should be fine. The communication should definitely come from your daughter but there’s no reason you can’t role play the phone conversation first if she’s nervous, or review an email/cover letter before she sends.

Great! I mailed cover letters out to all her schools. Will this suffice? Unfortunately i forgot to include the actual “Congratulations” sheet.
