In case of major achievement or personal update, how does one go about updating their application to reflect the same? Many portals ask for a Word document to be uploaded on the same. Should it be written as a letter, or a series of bullet points, or an elaboration on the update? Asking for a one-or-two-line update in a Word document seems a bit odd, so was wondering about the depth of explanation required and the structure.
really hoping for a response
If the college accepts a Word document, it likely accepts pdf file as well. Just scan or take a picture of an award certificate (or anything similar) and upload a pdf file.
Adding…just keep it short, a couple of sentences or bullet point format is ok. If you have had previous contact with your AO, you might also drop them an email, but I wouldn’t do that if you have never contacted them before.
D21 has to let her schools know of a change to her Spring semester classes. I had assumed she would write to her admission officer for each school, no? She has not been in touch with them before. Do you think she should call admissions instead?
What course change is your D making? Has she been accepted to any schools yet? I would first send an email, because you are going to need the approval in writing…and if she has been accepted anywhere yet, an approval is likely necessary. For the schools she hasn’t received a decision, the change could potentially impact the ultimate admissions decision. If she hasn’t heard from the AO in a week after sending the email, I would follow up with a call.
D’s senior year internship was cancelled at the very last minute in the Fall due to COVID so she doubled up on foreign languages instead. She just found out on Friday that she can do an internship now in the Spring and needs to drop one of the languages to fit it in her schedule. (I believe the schools may already be aware of her fact that her internship had been cancelled in the Fall). She planned to email the AO’s of the 3 schools she’s been accepted to and ask if this change would affect her admission in any way. What is the best way for her to reach out to the schools she is still waiting to hear from?
An email should be fine, but if no response in a week or so follow up with a call. If there is a way to upload that info in her portals I would do that in addition to the mail and follow up call.
