I wonder if I can submit a resume using "Additional Info" in the Common App to colleges.

any ideas............

if you mean like an activities sheet explaining some things that were important to you, you probably could. i wouldn't do a full resume, that's what the rest of the app is for.

That's exactly what my son did with the "additional info" page. A 1 page resume highlighting his extra-curriculars (ok, maybe it was more like two-thirds of a page). In the EC section of the common app, he wrote "see attached" next to each EC. Then he was able to give a little more detail about what he did for each EC on the Activity resume.

"i wouldn't do a full resume, that's what the rest of the app is for." I disagree. Most of the rest of the app is demographic info. There is one section to just list your EC's, and almost no room to detail what you actually did in these EC's. Definitely add the "resume," but be sure the resume is both complete and CONCISE. "Coordinated theme & decorations for the big charity fundraiser," = good. "Bought blue and pink streamers and hung them in a creative and eye-pleasing pattern, made posters with glitter, helped hang a disco ball." = not good, too much detail.

Lafal, Did your son submit it as word attachment?

this sounds random, but will colleges accept a microsoft office document (from the new windows vista)?

He had to copy the resume from a Word document into the Common App and it was a royal pain. I think the Common App has instructions for how to get the essay onto the essay page, you can use the same procedure for the resume. I think there's an intermediate step involving Notepad. Be sure to hit Print Preview before you send it - that's the view the college will get, and it IS DIFFERENT from the way it looks when you're entering it on the application.

Thank You!
