how to write a personal statement on language talent?

<p>I'm Taiwanese, and i studied in local school in Taiwan until 7th grade.
then i moved out to study in an international school, so the biggest problem at that time would be to adapt into a total new environment and surrounded language.
but i got adapted really soon, after a year my teacher said i almost have pure american accent. Not only that i didn't shrink away from the new environment and language, at the same time i decided to take SPANISH class (which other ESL students didn't do), and i did very well in it, better than the other english native speakers.
Now, i'm the best spanish student in my grade and i'm also doing AP english class.
i still have fluent chinese since i speak it at home.
so i feel my advantage and talent is about language. and i feel proud to be able to master (or will master) the three biggest languages in the world.</p>

<p>OKAY- so, i decided to write my personal statement on this...since it shows my talent and interest (BTW, i'm not bragging at all! i just want to let you guys know my situation...because i have no idea how to write it :( )
Someone please help??!
OR do you think this is a bad idea?
my other choice would be the Third Culture Kid topic...how i moved around a lot and experienced different culture.
THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE HELP!</p>

<p>help plsss!!! :(((((((((</p>

<p>someone pls give me some idea/suggestion :((((
just anything pls! :(</p>

<p>pls help>???
come on guys ><</p>

<p>You’re situation is identical to mine, except I take French not Spanish. And I tutor other children who have just moved here both English and Chinese to help them adjust to the environment.
So is it unique? Not really…
But then again, it’s now what you write, it’s how you write it.</p>

<p>The basic facts about your abilities will be apparent in the rest of your application. Don’t dwell on these facts in your essay.</p>

<p>The essay is to help make you come alive to the AdCom.</p>

<p>A persuasive essay will show, not tell, and will be personal, detailed, honest and revealing.</p>

<p>Now, are you saying that you love languages or that you just happen to be good at them? It would be good to write about something that you love if possible.</p>

<p>can you think of an experience where you had to use two of the languages you speak? (to translate or help a tourist, etc.)</p>

<p>I think the best essay you can write about your languages is to do a lot of showing. Give the reader an example or experience that demonstrates your multi-cultural background and multi-language skills. What has learning languages meant to you? Did you grow in anyway by learning new ways of speaking? Talk about how it’s affected you/makes you unique (although i’m sure hundreds of students out there can speak 2+ languages). Make your essay stand out by using good detail and letting the reader get to know you for who you are.</p>
