How to Write an APUSH Test Essay?

<p>I'm completely flabbergasted as how to write an APUSH History essay. I got a 6/9 the last test, and I was shocked (Thought it was an easy 9)...My teacher responded to my questioning about the grade by saying 'In APUSH You must write essays chronologically, not thematically. Thematic is too simple and will not get a good grade". </p>

<p>Can anyone explain to me how to do this? I've always written thematically and have gotten consistent 9's last year in Euro AP and got an easy 5 on the exam w/ minimal studying, along with having got 12's on SAT essays. I just don't get how to write a 'good' essay chronologically! Chronological and Good Essay is just an oxymoron in my head. </p>

<p>A 6 is nothing to be ashamed of. She had got to give you more information though about thematic vs. chronologic. I don't see what is wrong with writing a good thematic essay unless it specifically states otherwise.</p>
