How to write email to admission officers?

<p>There is this college that I am applying to and I have a question about it. Let's just say that the email for the college's admission office is <a href="mailto:admissions@college.edu">admissions@college.edu</a>. Now, now do I start off the email? Should I keep it informal or formal? I was thinking something along the lines of: </p>

<p>Dear [College] Admission Officers: </p>

<p>[Body]</p>

<p>Thank you,
- [Name]</p>

<p>But would that be correct or would it make a bad impression, or just be too formal or awkward?</p>

<p>1) Head over to your email provider’s website.
2) Login to their email system with your chosen username and password.
3) Click “Compose”.
4) Type their email address in the “To:” section.
5) Type in a relevant subject.
6) ???
7) PROFIT!</p>
