<p>I wouldn't worry about the difficulty of those majors.</p>
<p>One comment that you tend to hear from IR majors isn't necessarily that the major is terribly difficult, but that it has a LOT of DIVERSE requirements...so it's likely that you may have one area that's weaker but you still have to take some classes in it (econ or history or a language). </p>
<p>For econ, there is a lot of flexibility in what you choose for departmental electives, so you can in many cases tailor the upper level (more difficult) classes to what you are most interested/talented in.</p>
