How transfered grades look on transcript?

I am very curious on how your GPA works on your transcript when you have credits from multiple different institutions. I am attending Southern Illinois University Carbondale right now and have achieved a 4.0 in both semesters here and am transferring into the COE at UW-Madison in the fall. I also have taken a few classes at a CC over the summer. I am wondering how these grades will transfer into my Cum. GPA on my transcript after graduating from UW. I have heard that you will have each school listed and then have the classes you took underneath each school and the grades you recieved in each. And then at the bottom of the transcript you have a cumulative GPA of all schools?

Thanks for the help.

Yeah, most colleges take all your courses and add them up and divide by # of hours to get a cumulative GPA. However, once you transfer, your GPA starts over so if you have a 4.0 at a CC, it doesn’t transfer over to say Harvard.
