how useful are tablet PC for premeds

I was wondering how useful tablet PC are for premeds. I'm beginning my laptop shopping and I'm thinking between the normal laptops or the tablet laptops. If price isn't too big of a factor, would a tablet help in taking notes or other activities during class?

I know I've asked this question on the JHU forum, but I just want another opinion from other JHU students in the CC forum.

I think it depends on how comfortable you are with taking notes electronically rather than on paper. For my humanities and social science courses, I take notes with OneNote. I'm hesitant to do this in other courses because of the graphs and figures presented in lectures. A Tablet PC would help things in that regard. Also consider whether you would be willing to bring your laptop to section meetings. It could get cumbersome.

being premed doesn't really give necessity for owning any particular laptop. And a neuroscience major doing premed at hopkins and i have never taken notes on my laptop simply because i'd never look at them again. By taking them by hand on paper, i am forced to pay attention and write as needed. Then, (especially in the humanities classes) i go to my room and type my notes into the laptop. It's time-consuming, but it really works--you are forced to comprehend all the information twice. I've gotten mostly As with this method.

EDIT: I own a MacBook Pro
