How was CalSo?

Is everybody there peppy and full of school spirit? I'm not really peppy, but I can deal with some peppiness.

Did counselors let you sign up for courses above 100?

If you arrive a day early, do you have to lug it around all day?

I'm from SoCal, so I'll be coming a day early.

You can sign up for whatever you want. You can ignore the counselors' suggestions as much as you wish.

YOU KNOW IT!

Bring as little as possible, because you have to lug it around with you all day. :[

^Just leave whatever you want to in your dorm room.

Yeah but the 2nd day you have to cart everything with you..

No you don't. You drop it off at luggage check-in that morning, then pick it up when you leave.

the walk was hooooorrible... HORRIBLE...
but the information was good... especially when u go visit ur major advising...
well it was kinda fun...
waking up at 6am was horrible =.= shoulda ignored everyone else and slept at 8... WAHAHAHA *looks at lobo >_>

If you want to have some...interesting....experiences, walk around all the different floors and just talk to people.

I met some pretty messed up people after 12:30ish...haha

CalSo was actually pretty fun. It's definitely worth going to since they really help you out when it comes to scheduling classes. I went last week and I found that it was easy to work telebears especially since the CalSo Counselors can really help you out.

If you're arriving a day early, you can check in your luggage early. My advice is bring clothes that work in all types of weather. When I went, I only brought my summer clothes cause I was so used to the socal heat and it ended up being ridiculously chilly the entire time I was there. Also, the beds really suck and the sheets they give you are paper thin. Bring warm clothes for the night or maybe an extra blanket.

There actually is a lot of school spirit at Calso and if you're not really a school spirit type of person, it's ok. Having school spirit isn't mandatory but it does help you feel really good about choosing to go to cal. But don't worry, its not Pep, it's pride. I'm not really the school spirit/ pep and rah-rah-rah type of person but I ended up cheering along with everyone else and bought my first cal sweater.

Course above 100 are normally reserved for upperclassmen so you might have trouble getting in if there are restrictions against freshmen.

That's about all I have to say. Final word of advice: Don't forget that on the second day you get your Cal 1 card. If you're a touchy person about photos just know you'll be taking a photo for that and it'll last for all four years at cal. I didn't realize that I had to take a photo and I ended up with a hideous abomination that I will have to bear for all four years... so yeah, be prepared and have fun at CalSo!!! :)

I just attended the July 7-8 CalSo.

Mendoukuse: Glad to see that the CalSO propaganda worked. :) haha

Calso...
hot and tiring.
trying to organize your schedule is pretty stressing. Make sure you go there with a schedule in mind.
The orientation was basically meeting new people, boring sessions, lots of walking, and cheers. Calso counselors are helpful, nice, and fun, but it was hard to enjoy myself because I was so tired, everyone else was so tired, and it was like 90 degrees. So make sure you have a lot of energy when you get there!!

who's from NorCal? who's from SoCal? GO BEARS!!! This kinda sums up CalSO for me...lol...but seriously it was good I just wished I had gotten an earlier session
